Message from the Suffolk REMSCO Chair, Jane McCormack, RN
The Suffolk Regional EMS Council (REMSCO) is currently reviewing its constituent make-up to ensure that our membership is representative of the regional health care system, and is seeking Expressions of Interest from potential constituencies interested in membership. If you believe that you and your constituency meet the requirements, and have the desire to serve, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities of membership include regular and active participation in the meetings of the REMSCO, held in Yaphank at 7:00 PM on the second Tuesday of every other month, beginning in January, and regular active participation on at least one (1) working committee of the REMSCO.
Per Public Health Law Article 30, the purpose of the REMSCO is to coordinate emergency medical services in the Suffolk Region; make determinations of public need for the establishment or expansion of Ambulance or Advanced Life Support First Response Services; secure funding for program administration and the improvement of emergency medical services; develop and implement policies consistent with a comprehensive emergency medical services system within the Suffolk Region; and coordinate emergency medical training programs within the Suffolk Region. The law is specific that the REMSCO Membership must not exceed thirty (30) members and no less than 1/3 of the membership must represent ambulance services, with the remaining membership representative of existing local emergency medical care committees, physicians, nurses, hospitals, health planning agencies, public health officers and the general public.
If you are part of a constituency outlined above, and have an interest in actively serving the region in this capacity, please CLICK HERE to complete the Expression of Interest Form, and return the form to the Suffolk County EMS Office via U.S. Mail (360 Yaphank Ave., Suite 1B, Yaphank, NY 11980), email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or fax (631-852-5028) no later than March 1, 2014. THANK YOU for your interest in the Suffolk REMSCO.
