† Guy A. Cassara †
July 4, 1960 – June 4, 2010
Guy A. Cassara joined the Lindenhurst Fire Department in 1981 and was an active firefighter and EMS provider. Guy served as Captain of the Rescue Squad from 1989-1991, and was a member of the Fire Council at the time of his passing. Guy was a member of the Suffolk Regional EMS Council since December 2001;
he served as Vice-Chairman 2004 - 2005 and as Chairman from 2006 - 2007.
Throughout his tenure on the REMSCO, Guy served on various committees and was instrumental in contributing to the Response Committee since its inception. At the time of his passing, Guy was the Treasurer of the REMSCO.
A scholarship in the School of Health Technology and Management for a Physician Assistant student is being planned. The scholarship would be named after Guy, and would be for a student who has a strong background of volunteerism (preferably in the EMS or FD arena). Contributions can be made payable to the "Stony Brook Foundation" with "Guy Cassara" in the memo area, and sent to Dr. Kevin Watkins, Division of Surgical Oncology, HSC T 18-060, Stony Brook, NY 11794-8191
