The Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee is charged with establishing an effective means for physician input into the development of Emergency Medical Service policy relative to EMS patient care delivery, certification and training. The development of treatment protocols, Quality Assurance initiatives, and the overall medical operation of the Suffolk County Emergency Medical Services System are the primary goals of the REMAC.

The Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee consists of representatives of each of the Region's hospitals. Up to three (3) physicians from each hospital with active staff privileges are elected to a four year term. Additionally, up to eight (8) physicians with related professional expertise may be elected as members-at-large.  Non-voting members of REMAC are representative of basic and advanced life support providers, training course medical directors, emergency nurses and Medical Control. Each holds a two (2) year term of office.

The REMAC meets on the fourth Tuesday of every other month, starting in January, at 7:00 p.m. at the Suffolk County EMS office at the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge. 

Meeting dates for 2010 are: January 26, March 23, May 25, July 27, September 28 and November 23. Previous meetings that were webcast can be viewed by going to our video archives.

The REMAC welcomes input from the emergency response community. If there are special concerns or questions that you feel REMAC should consider, the meetings are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.
