Training Officer's PortalEducational Resources for Training Officers
Please update your educational material to reflect the following:
Nitroglycerin Should Be Withheld When a Patient Admits to Taking Viagra (sildenafil citrate), Levitra (vardenafil), Cialis (tadalafil), or other similar medication within the last 72 hours, UNLESS SO ORDERED BY A MEDICAL CONTROL PHYSICIAN.
This protocol will go into effect February 1, 2010.
This will also pertain to EMTs that are assisting patients with their own prescribed nitroglycerin. This note is not new for patients that have been previously prescribed nitroglycerin by their own physician.
