We are pleased to announce that the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Systems (NYS-DOH, BEMS), has released the 2019 BLS Protocol Update. This update can be found on the NYS-DOH, BEMS Learning Management System (LMS) Vital Signs Academy.
The LMS is associated with the Vital Signs Conference to deliver educational content in a newer and more innovative way. Below are the instructions to access the LMS and the 2019 BLS Protocol Update.
The Suffolk County EMS Division will be releasing more information about the regional protocol and skills rollout as it becomes available.
Please be aware that you may not utilize the new NYS BLS Protocols until both you and your agency complete all Suffolk REMAC required updates. This means that in order to use these new protocols, you must complete the NYS 2019 BLS Protocol Update, the Suffolk REMAC approved education and skills verification, and the agency in which you are practicing has made the decision to start utilizing the new protocols. If agency leadership chooses to start utilizing the new protocols and a provider has not completed the state and regional updates, that provider will no longer be allowed to practice as a provider within that agency until such time as all requirements are completed.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Suffolk County EMS Division office at (631) 852-5080
